15 Feb The camera never lies …
How wrong this statement is.
The camera is forever playing tricks. It distorts perspective, it loses details in shadows and highlights, it gets colours all wrong, it can focus on the wrong subject etc. etc. But we can make brilliant use of its lies and deceipts and create images that bear little resemblance to the reality of the subject, but are stunning, vibrant and exciting photographs that can sometimes be so much more interesting than stark reality.
The moral is that there are many ways to use a camera – it is a creative tool and it is worth breaking the rules sometimes and seeing what happens. Experiment a bit and make the camera lie!
